Orthopedic Injuries
Physical therapy is often warranted following orthopedic injuries such as fractures and sprains. The goal of physical therapy post –injury is to strengthen weak muscles, stretch tight muscles and return the child to their pre-injury state. At PTatric Therapy we work closely with the pediatric orthopedist to formulate an appropriate rehabilitation program tailored to the child’s specific needs. Parents are instructed in home exercise programs to ensure carry over at home allowing for a quicker recovery.
Physical therapy is also warranted following many orthopedic surgeries such as limb lengthening, tendon lengthening/transfers and osteotomies.
